Rhenus Türkiye gains IATA approval for Dangerous Goods handling
Certification allows handling of all nine hazard classes and authorises staff to prepare and sign DG shipments.

Rhenus Türkiye has obtained certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to handle Dangerous Goods in air transport, allowing the company to manage all nine Hazard Classes across its airfreight operations.
The certification authorises Rhenus Türkiye not only to receive and forward Dangerous Goods shipments but also to prepare them for air transport. This includes classification, packaging, labelling, documentation and signing of Dangerous Goods Declarations for airfreight consignments. These activities will be handled by the company’s dedicated Airfreight Special Cargo Department, which focuses on Dangerous Goods operations and supports customers throughout the preparation and compliance process.
With the new approval, Rhenus Türkiye can handle a wide range of Dangerous Goods, including perfumery products, chemicals, consumer electronics containing lithium batteries and vehicles. These cargo types are increasingly important in Türkiye’s export and import airfreight flows.
The certification also enables Rhenus Türkiye to support customers during the preparation of Dangerous Goods shipments by providing guidance on packaging, labelling and documentation. This service is particularly relevant for wholesalers, cosmetics manufacturers, chemical producers and vehicle manufacturers, where compliance requires specialised knowledge. Cosmetics companies, in particular, often seek full-service support for Consumer Commodity shipments.
Mert Gedikç, Managing Director of Rhenus Türkiye, said the certification represents an important step for the company’s airfreight operations in the country and allows it to operate in a specialised area where only a limited number of freight forwarders are qualified.
With this development, Rhenus Türkiye strengthens its position in a segment where compliance, safety and accurate documentation are essential for smooth air cargo movements.
