Malaysian cargo carrier Raya Airways is taking a bold step in its rebranding journey with the addition of a Boeing 767-200 freighter to its fleet. In a LinkedIn post, the airline called this a significant milestone in its commitment to service excellence.

The aircraft, bearing MSN 22218, is a 42.4-year-old Boeing 767-200 that was originally operated by Delta Air Lines. It was converted into a freighter in November 2007 by ABX Air in collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).

U.S.-based cargo airline ABX Air provides scheduled and ad hoc charter services, along with ACMI freight operations. The airline also offers flight support services and training. ABX Air is a subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group (ATSG).

The aircraft was later operated by Amerijet International, a U.S.-based cargo airline, before being withdrawn from service on April 2, 2022. It was subsequently placed in storage, with its last known storage location being Orlando Sanford International Airport, from February 15 to March 25, 2025, according to data from Planespotters.net.

The aircraft was ferried between March 25 and March 28, starting from Orlando to Honolulu, followed by a flight from Honolulu to Guam. On March 28, it completed its journey by flying from Guam to Kuala Lumpur, data from Flightradar24 confirmed.

The aircraft has been leased to Raya Airways by ABX Air.

Raya Airways operates a fleet of eight aircraft, comprising four Boeing 767-200Fs, three Airbus A321-200Fs, and one Boeing 737-400F, according to data from Planespotters.net. Notably, its existing Boeing 767-200F fleet is registered as 9M-RXA, 9M-RXB, 9M-RXC, and 9M-RXD. With the addition of the newly acquired freighter, which will be registered as 9M-RXE, the airline's fleet will expand to nine aircraft.

Established in 1993, the airline specialises in express freight and air charter services, operating across domestic routes, Southeast Asia, and North Asia.

In October last year, the airline introduced a new charter route connecting Penang, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
