Plus Ultra renews Jettainer deal with IoT ULD tracking rollout
Under the new agreement, the airline will implement Jettainer’s IoT tracking solution across its ULD fleet.

Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas has renewed its ULD management contract with Jettainer, extending a partnership that has supported the airline’s long-haul operations since 2016. The agreement covers the continued provision of ULD supply and maintenance services while introducing IoT tracking across the airline’s ULD fleet.
The renewal builds on a collaboration that began when the airline launched scheduled services from Madrid to destinations in South and Central America. During this period, Jettainer managed ULD availability and aligned fleet capacity with network expansion and operational needs.
Under the new agreement, the airline will implement Jettainer’s IoT tracking solution across its ULD fleet. The system provides real-time visibility across the ULD supply chain and generates data that supports fleet utilisation and lifecycle performance.
The tracking devices are deployed in collaboration with Trackonomy and use a hybrid data transmission model. Fixed infrastructure based on LoRa and BLE will be installed at large- and mid-sized locations, while cellular-enabled units act as mobile readers. These devices use meshing technology to create a network that expands as more units connect. The integration of cellular connectivity with existing standards enables continuous data flow and improved tracking coverage.
“Jettainer has supported us for many years along our growth journey and remains the ideal partner to provide first-class ULD services going forward. The proven reliability of the collaboration, combined with the opportunity to further enhance transparency, visibility, and efficiency through cutting-edge IoT technology, was a decisive factor in our decision to extend the contract,” said Alejandro Casado, COO and AOC Accountable Manager of Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas.
“Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas is a valued and strong airline partner, and we greatly appreciate the trust expressed through this contract extension. With our unique IoT tracking technology, we will further enhance operational performance and continue to deliver best-in-class ULD management services in the years to come,” said Dr Jan-Wilhelm Breithaupt, CEO of Jettainer.
Jettainer manages more than 100,000 ULDs across 500 locations worldwide. The company provides container and pallet management, positioning, and repair services supported by data systems and analytics. Its service portfolio also includes ULD leasing, cool management, and temperature-controlled solutions. Jettainer operates as a subsidiary of Lufthansa Cargo AG.
