LATAM Cargo Group and Quick Cargo Service have signed an agreement to incorporate Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) into their operations between Frankfurt and São Paulo using the Book and Claim methodology during the 2025–2026 winter season, from late October to March.

The initiative includes the allocation of more than 24,000 litres of SAF on these flights. Under the Book and Claim model, the environmental attributes of the fuel are credited to Quick Cargo Service’s operations. The agreement reflects both companies’ commitment to reducing emissions in air cargo transportation.

Through this mechanism, a lifecycle emissions reduction of approximately 55.8 metric tonnes of CO₂e is projected. Of this, around 46 tonnes of CO₂e are flight-related emissions, representing close to 7% of the emissions generated by the operation over the 21-week season.

The SAF used is produced from alternative feedstocks such as animal fats and can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by about 75% compared to conventional jet fuel. The reduction is calculated on a full lifecycle basis, including emissions from fuel production and distribution through to final combustion in the aircraft.

Cristina Oñate, Vice President of Sustainability and Product at LATAM Cargo Group, said the agreement shows that decarbonisation requires joint efforts between companies and their customers to achieve measurable change across the logistics value chain.

Patrick Eberhard, Head of Product Management LATAM at Quick Cargo Service, said strong partnerships are essential to drive meaningful change and support the development and use of SAF in the industry.

The agreement forms part of LATAM Cargo Group’s broader strategy to develop solutions that help customers integrate climate management tools into their air cargo operations. Collaboration between airlines and customers continues to play a key role in advancing the decarbonisation of air cargo transportation on trade lanes to and from South America, supporting the long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
