Kuehne+Nagel has strengthened its own-controlled air freight network by incorporating Frankfurt into the rotation of its Inspire freighter service, enhancing connectivity between North America, Europe, and Asia.

As one of the world's leading air cargo gateways, Frankfurt handles approximately 2 million tonnes of freight each year and serves as a critical hub for high-value and time-sensitive shipments. Its addition to the Inspire network further reinforces key trade corridors linking Europe and North America.

The updated weekly rotation now operates from Chicago to Frankfurt before continuing to Atlanta, creating a direct connection between two major pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution centres. The route is expected to support the efficient transport of healthcare products and other time-critical cargo.

Inspire is Kuehne+Nagel’s dedicated Boeing 747-8 freighter service, operated under a long-term charter agreement with Atlas Air. With a payload capacity of around 140 tonnes, the Boeing 747-8F is Boeing’s largest cargo aircraft, capable of handling complex and high-value shipments across major global trade lanes.

Effective from June 2026, the revised Inspire rotation connects Atlanta, Chicago, Frankfurt, Liege, Sharjah, and Taipei, improving access across important transatlantic and Asia-Europe markets. The service is designed to meet the needs of sectors that depend on speed and reliability, including pharmaceuticals, aerospace, semiconductors, high-tech manufacturing, and cloud infrastructure.

Martin Schaefer, SVP Air Logistics Germany at Kuehne+Nagel, said, “Frankfurt is one of Europe’s leading air cargo and pharmaceutical hubs, linking regional production with global markets. The expanded Inspire rotation provides customers with capacity, reliability, and greater global connectivity for both healthcare shipments and other time-sensitive cargo, including high-tech and semiconductor flows”.

The company continues to grow its portfolio of own-controlled air freight capacity, which now includes more than 100 charter connections each week worldwide. Through its gateway model and scalable network, Kuehne+Nagel aims to deliver greater reliability, faster transit times and consistent service while remaining flexible in response to changing trade patterns and customer requirements.
