The largest cargo aircraft, the Boeing 747, with a capacity of 105 tonnes, arrived in Uzbekistan for the first time. The "Jumbo Jet", as it is also known, will join the fleet of cargo carrier My Freighter. Uzbekistan's cargo planes previously had a capacity of 50 tonnes, and the acquisition of a new jet will be an important step in expanding Uzbekistan's capabilities as an international cargo transportation hub.

On October 23, 2022, a meeting was held at the Tashkent airport for the first large cargo plane, the Boeing 747-281F, which arrived from Indonesia after completing the necessary technical work. The four-engine wide-body cargo plane has a range of 10,600 kilometers and 8 dedicated crew rest areas.

The first cargo version of the Boeing 747 was built in the early 1970s. The aircraft, registered UK47088, has arrived in Uzbekistan and will be operated by the local company My Freighter, which was founded in 2019.

One of this aircraft model's distinguishing features is its ability to load oversized cargo through the nose. The massive Boeing 747-281F can be fully loaded in 60 to 90 minutes if work is done from all four sides at the same time, including loading through the nose. With a class-leading range, this aircraft will transport cargo between China and Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States, with Tashkent serving as a key transit hub.

"When creating the company, we set a goal: to turn Uzbekistan into a center for international cargo transportation. That is, to create a kind of "air Silk Road", taking into account the geographical location in relation to China and Europe. The reforms carried out under the leadership of our esteemed President Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev provide great opportunities for the implementation of ambitious goals and grandiose tasks. I am very pleased that the results of our company are the fruits of these reforms in terms of the strategic development of the aviation industry in the Republic of Uzbekistan Analysis of air travel trends shows that this market is expected to grow exponentially over the next five years. This is due to the development of e-commerce, geopolitical changes, the activities of international organizations and the changing requirements of the global market", said Abdulaziz Abdurakhmonov, General Director, My Freighter.

In recent years, the demand for air cargo transportation has noticeably increased all over the world, including in Uzbekistan. The global air cargo transport market is expected to grow from $57.21 billion in 2021 to $61.82 billion in 2022 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.1%. The market is also expected to grow to $81.51 billion in 2026 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.2%. Uzbekistan can take advantage of this growth and give impetus to the accelerated development of local cargo and civil aviation, including private airlines.

The analysis of cargo volumes and the number of My Freighter flights confirms these trends. Since 2019, My Freighter has transported 64 thousand tonnes of cargo by air, while in 2019 the company started with 30 cargo flights per year and in 2022 the number of cargo flights reached 410. My Freighter has warehouses in 10 major cities in China, including Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing and Hong Kong, in Europe collection points are based in the Czech Republic, Luxembourg, Germany (Leipzig and Frankfurt), France (Paris), Italy (Milan) and the Netherlands (Amsterdam), as well as in the UAE (Dubai), South Korea (Seoul), Russia (Moscow), Brazil (San Paolo) and Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City). Extensive infrastructure and a wide range of international partners make My Freighter a dynamically developing international company from Uzbekistan.

In the near future, My Freighter plans to purchase five more 747 cargo aircraft within five years to increase the fleet to 20 cargo aircraft.
