Turkish Airlines carried 162,483 tonnes of cargo in April, an increase of 34 percent from the same period last year, mainly driven by the 36 percent increase in international cargo carried at 158,090 tonnes.

Central & South America reported a 65 percent increase in volume at 4,998 tonnes followed by Europe (49,903 tonnes, up 40.8 percent) and Middle East (13,586 tonnes, up 38.4 percent).

Domestic cargo carried declined nine percent to 4,393 tonnes, says an official release.

While the market growth rate was around eight percent in March, according to data from WorldACD, Ali Turk, Chief Cargo Officer, Turkish Airlines said in a LinkedIn post: "We achieved a remarkable growth of 30 percent and ranked among the top three. I extend my sincere congratulations to all our teammates whose dedication and hard work have made this achievement possible."

For the first four months of 2024 (January-April), Turkish carried 640,041 tonnes of cargo, an increase of 35.1 percent compared to the same period last year. While domestic cargo carried was up 5.5 percent at 18,477 tonnes, international cargo carried increased 36.2 percent to 621,564 tonnes.

The Far East reported the maximum increase in cargo carried for the first four months (217,221 tonnes, up 38.8 percent) followed by North America (77,531 tonnes, up 37.1 percent).

Q12024 cargo revenue up 26%
Turkish reported a 26 percent increase in cargo revenue at $750 million for the first quarter of 2024 compared to $591 million in Q12023.

Revenue from cargo carried in freighters was at $340 million, while revenue from cargo carried in the Turkish passenger network was $410 million.

2023 cargo revenue down 30%
Turkish Airlines reported a 30 percent decline in 2023 cargo revenue at $2.6 billion compared to $3.7 billion in 2022.

Revenue from cargo carried in freighter aircraft came in at $1.4 billion, and revenue from cargo carried by passenger aircraft was $1.2 billion.
