Indian airports handled 3.7 million tonnes cargo in FY2025
Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL) reported a 21% increase in international cargo handled at 321,283 tonnes.

Indian airports handled 3.7 million tonnes of cargo in the financial year 2024-25 (April 2024 to March 2025) compared to 3.36 million tonnes during the last financial year, an increase of 10 percent.
While international cargo handled increased 14 percent to 2.32 million tonnes, domestic cargo was up six percent at 1.39 million tonnes, according to data from the Airport Authority of India (AAI).
Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL) reported a 21 percent increase in international cargo handled at 321,283 tonnes followed by Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) at 98,825 tonnes.
Large airports - Mumbai and Delhi - also reported high double digit growth, according to available data. Delhi reported a 13 percent increase in international cargo at 729,784 tonnes and Mumbai at 654,756 tonnes, up 11 percent.
Smaller international airports - Coimbatore, Kannur and Nagpur - also reported gains, according to data from AAI. Goa was the only major international airport to report a huge decline, down 62 percent at 684 tonnes. Goa (Mopa), however, handled 2,848 tonnes in FY2025.
Among the major international airports, Delhi led the domestic cargo carried with an increase of six percent at 379,735 tonnes followed by Bengaluru Airport at 181,225 tonnes (up five percent). Mumbai was steady at 235,143 tonnes.
While Kolkata handled 113,923 tonnes in domestic freight, an increase of 11 percent, Coimbatore reported a 29 percent increase at 10,269 tonnes. Chennai was marginally higher at 83,794 tonnes.
Among domestic airports, Jamnagar saw a 76 percent decline to 36.8 tonnes of domestic freight from 156.2 tonnes during the last financial year.
