Istanbul-based Havas Ground Handling, a subsidiary of TAV Airports Holding, has extended its authorisation to provide ground handling services for another seven years at Riga International Airport in Latvia, the main airport of Latvia’s capital, Riga, and the largest airport in the Baltic states. Following this renewed agreement, Havas will provide its ground handling services until the year 2031. The company has been offering its ground handling services to many airline companies at Riga International Airport since 2010. This marks the third time the company has been granted a 7-year service license at Riga International Airport.

The ground handling company manages the entire ground operations at Riga International Airport, including operations such as passenger and baggage handling, ramp, aircraft cleaning, load control and communication, de-icing, flight operations, transportation, representation, and supervision services to many airline companies like Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, LOT Polish Airlines, Norwegian Airlines, Wizzair, British Airways, SkyUp, Smartlynx, Transavia, and Aegean.


The company reports that it handled over half a million pieces of luggage while serving over 8,000 flights and about a million passengers at Riga International Airport.

Commenting on this news, Havas’ General Manager, S. Havas offers its services at 30 airports in Turkey, as well as Zagreb airport in Croatia and Riga airport in Latvia. According to the company, it offers its ground handling services to more than 200 airlines. Havas and its subsidiaries operate approximately 560 thousand flights per year, transporting 1.3 million tonnes of cargo and more than 100 million bags while serving over 160 million passengers. Havas offers import and export warehouse services at the airports of Istanbul, Antalya, Ankara, and Izmir. It also manages passenger transportation between the airport and the city center. Havas Ground Handling company is a member of Airport Service Association (ASA) and IATA Ground Handling Council (IGHC).
