Hactl Think Park awarded BEAM Plus Platinum rating
The facility received the Platinum rating through the integration of eco-friendly and energy-saving elements.

Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has received the BEAM Plus BI V2.0 Platinum rating for the upgrade of its learning and development centre, Hactl Think Park, located on the second floor of the SuperTerminal 1 North Office Block in Hong Kong.
The certification was awarded following an assessment of how the facility was developed, what features were implemented, who was involved, why the certification was sought, and how the upgrades were carried out.
Hactl Think Park comprises several training and learning spaces, including “The Lab” for workshops and seminars, “The Space” with digital and visual features, and six classrooms for professional training sessions.
The facility received the Platinum rating through the integration of eco-friendly and energy-saving elements. One measure was the adoption of Ecolabel-certified green cleaning products to reduce environmental impact and improve indoor conditions. The project also used high-efficiency fan coil units certified by the Construction Industry Council Green Product Certification Scheme, with power consumption reduced by up to 70%. LED lighting was installed with an estimated 20% reduction in energy usage compared to Building Energy Code 2021 standards. Water use is lowered through WELS Grade 1 water taps.
BEAM Plus assesses health and wellbeing, hygiene, site impacts, use of materials, water quality, energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality. The certification process provides a framework for integrating sustainability features into interior spaces.
Kenneth Chan, Hactl Executive Director – Engineering & Facilities Services, said, “We are delighted to have been awarded the BEAM Plus BI V2.0 Platinum rating for our new Hactl Think Park. This recognition and the comprehensive assessment we undertook to achieve this show our ongoing commitment to sustainability across all areas of our business. Our customers, stakeholders, new hires, and current staff will all benefit from using Hactl Think Park, where our total reimagining of the facility has delivered this very special new learning environment.”
Hactl noted that the use of upcycled materials, natural light, digital training materials, energy-saving equipment and collaboration with local design studios formed part of the development approach, aiming to support zero-waste practises within the facility.
