Avianca has mobilised its cargo and passenger operations to support emergency relief efforts in Colombia following a recent earthquake, transporting more than 150 tonnes of essential supplies within two days. To support the operation, GOLLOG deployed a Boeing 737 freighter from Sao Paulo, selected for its compatibility with the operating conditions at Armenia’s El Edén International Airport. The mission also marked the first landing of a cargo aircraft of this model at the airport.

Avianca said the relief operation was carried out in coordination with the Presidency of Colombia, alongside two charter flights organised with the Presidency of El Salvador and additional Avianca services.

The shipments included food, water and necessities, medicines and medical supplies, diapers, mats and infant formula, aimed at supporting communities and families affected by the earthquake. The airlines said it would continue coordinating with government authorities and other organisations to support relief efforts and deliver essential supplies to affected communities.

The operation highlighted the role of logistics partnerships in responding to humanitarian emergencies, with GOLLOG and Avianca Cargo coordinating their capabilities to ensure essential supplies reached affected communities.
