Frankfurt Airport cargo handled down 4% in Jan
For 2024, Frankfurt Airport handled 2.05 million tonnes of cargo, an increase of 6.2% YoY.

Frankfurt Airport handled 148,321 tonnes of cargo in January 2025, a drop of 3.9 percent compared to January 2024.
The cargo handled was down 9.2 percent compared to the same period in January 2019, says an official release.
"The number of aircraft movements was stable, with a slight 0.4 percent decrease to 30,938 takeoffs and landings. The total maximum takeoff weight was around two million tonnes, a small reduction of one percent compared with the same month in 2024."
As many as 3.9 million travelers flew via Frankfurt Airport in January, the release added. "This corresponded to a decrease of 3.1 percent compared to the same month in 2024. The decline was a result of cuts to flight services by the Lufthansa Group, while other airlines increased their services."
2024 cargo numbers
For the full year of 2024, Frankfurt Airport handled 2.05 million tonnes of cargo, an increase of 6.2 percent from 2023.
"In December 2024, the freighter aircraft tonnage on routes from China to Frankfurt was significantly up (+16.7 percent). In contrast, the tonnage on freighter aircraft from Frankfurt to destinations in China was down by 5.8 percent. All in all, freighter aircraft tonnage connected to China increased by 5.9 percent. The belly-load count on passenger aircraft to and from China decreased by 8.8 percent. All in all, tonnage in the belly of passenger aircraft and on freighter aircraft on routes from Frankfurt Airport to China recorded a growth rate of 2.8 percent."
