Europe cargo carried increased 33 percent in May to 2,978 tonnes for Finnair, leading to a 13 percent increase in May to 13,017 tonnes.

Revenue tonne kilometres increased four percent to 290 million, and capacity increased 6.5 percent to 490.3 million, says an official release.

While Middle East cargo carried increased 16 percent to 1,837 tonnes, domestic cargo declined 33 percent to 23 tonnes.

For the first five months of the year, cargo carried increased 12 percent to 58,983 tonnes, revenue tonne kms was up three percent at 1.3 billion and capacity increased seven percent to 2.2 billion.

European cargo carried increased 38 percent for January-May 2024 to 11,461 tonnes, and Asia cargo was up 11 percent at 31,783 tonnes. Domestic cargo carried declined 32 percent to 107 tonnes.

"In May, 77.2 percent of all Finnair flights arrived on schedule (compared to 86.5 percent in May 2023). The on-time performance decline was due to the closure of one of the runways at Helsinki Airport for renovation work."
