Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of Emirates, has taken delivery of two Boeing 777 freighters, boosting its capacity and enhancing its capabilities to better serve customers across its global network.

In a LinkedIn post, the airline stated, “Our growing fleet enables us to further expand our freighter network, reaching new destinations such as the recently announced Tokyo Narita and Copenhagen.”

Although the airline has not disclosed any details about the two freighters, data from Planespotters.net reveals that they are registered as A6-EFX and A6-EFY and are newly built. A6-EFX is 0.2 years old, while A6-EFY is 0.1 years old. Both aircraft were ferried from Everett (PAE) to Hong Kong (HKG) and then onward to Dubai World Central (DWC). A6-EFX completed its delivery flight between May 2–3, 2025, and A6-EFY between April 21–22, 2025.

The next Boeing 777 freighter set to join Emirates SkyCargo is registered as A6-EFZ. These latest Boeing 777 deliveries are part of an order for 13 B777 freighters, with 11 more set to be delivered in 2025 and 2026. With the arrival of the latest two freighters, the Dubai-headquartered carrier has already retired an old B777F from its fleet.

In an earlier interview to The STAT Trade Times, Nadeem Sultan, Senior Vice President - Freighters & Cargo Planning, Emirates SkyCargo, stated that the airline plans to eventually replace its older Boeing 777 freighters with the delivery of the 13 new Boeing 777 freighters.

Emirates SkyCargo has confirmed that its current cargo fleet includes 11 B777Fs and six wet-leased B747Fs.

This significant order of 13 aircraft will support the airline’s next phase of growth, as it continues to explore future fleet options, including the Boeing 777-8F and Airbus A350F. “We are still exploring all our options for our future fleet. We are conducting a full assessment and reviewing all aircraft options to ensure that we are best equipped to respond to the evolving demand of the future," said Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President, Emirates SkyCargo during the Air Cargo Africa event held in Nairobi earlier this year.

When asked whether Emirates would make a decision by the end of 2025, Badr Abbas responded, “just wait and see.”

Emirates SkyCargo’s fleet of six wet-leased B747 freighters includes three 747-400Fs from Compass Air Cargo, two 747-400BDSFs from ACT Airlines, and one 747-400BDSF from Aerotranscargo. All six of them are flying on an ACMI basis for Emirates SkyCargo.

The airline also recently unveiled its first freighter featuring its new signature livery. The aircraft, registered as A6-EFV, is 0.8 years old. All existing Boeing 777 freighters in the fleet will be repainted in the new livery, while the remaining 13 freighters on order will be delivered in the new livery.
