Dietmar Focke, Chief Operations Officer at Lufthansa Cargo, will step down from the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo on October 31, 2024. He will then take on the role of Managing Director at Lufthansa Industry Solutions, the IT consulting and system integration arm of the Lufthansa Group, according to an official release from Lufthansa Cargo.

Prior to joining Lufthansa Cargo, Focke oversaw commercial engine services at Lufthansa Technik, a role he had held since early 2019.

A decision regarding his successor will be announced soon, mentions the release.

In recent years, Focke has achieved significant milestones, including advancing the LCC evolution infrastructure programme, focused on enhancing and modernising the logistics centre at Lufthansa Cargo's home hub in Frankfurt. He also led the successful expansion of the A321 freighter fleet, growing it to four aircraft. Over the past 12 months, he played a key role in the development of a new e-commerce product for Lufthansa Cargo, the release added.

“The 51-year-old engineering graduate has led the operations division since March 1, 2022. In this role, Focke oversaw global handling management, flight operations, security, and the majority of Lufthansa Cargo's equity investments.”

“With his extensive experience in aviation and logistics as well as the management of large business units, Dietmar Focke has continued to lead Lufthansa Cargo into the future as part of the Executive Board team and has made a significant contribution to the further development and modernisation of Lufthansa Cargo,” says Michael Niggemann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Lufthansa Cargo and Chief Human Resources Officer of the Lufthansa Group. “We would like to thank him for the good cooperation, and we are pleased that he continues his career within the Lufthansa Group as Managing Director of Lufthansa Industry Solutions. We wish him every success for his new role.”
