DHL Group, the world’s leading logistics company, has announced plans to invest around EUR 1 billion across all its business units in India by 2030. The move reflects the company’s Strategy 2030 – Accelerate Sustainable Growth – and highlights its confidence in India as a key global growth market.
The multi-year investment will strengthen DHL’s infrastructure across sectors such as life sciences and healthcare, new energy, e-commerce, and digitalisation. Major projects include India’s first DHL Health Logistics hub in Bhiwandi, the country’s largest low carbon-emission facility for Blue Dart in Bijwasan, an automatic sorting centre for DHL Express in Delhi, a new DHL IT Services Centre in Indore, and an EV and Battery Logistics Centre of Excellence in Chennai and Mumbai.
Tobias Meyer, CEO of DHL Group, said global trade may face headwinds, but India’s dynamic market and business-friendly policies make it a solid base for long-term investment.
According to DHL’s Global Connectedness Tracker, India’s combined merchandise and services exports grew 6.18% between April and August 2025. Goods travelled the longest average distance on record, expected to reach 6,190 kilometres this year, driven by growing trade with countries across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.
R.S. Subramanian, SVP - South Asia and Managing Director, India, DHL Express, said India’s trade diversification strategy is expanding global connections, while DHL’s digital tools like MyGTS are helping customers manage complex supply chains.
In life sciences and healthcare, DHL will enhance its presence through the new 150,000 sq. ft. Health Logistics Excellence Centre in Bhiwandi, supporting cold chain operations and direct-to-patient services. Vikas Anand, Managing Director, India, DHL Supply Chain, said the facility will help DHL serve India’s growing pharmaceutical and medical sectors, which benefit from strong government support through policies like the Production-Linked Incentive scheme and the National Biopharma Mission.
In the new energy sector, DHL’s focus aligns with India’s clean energy targets, including 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. Edwin Pinto, Managing Director, India, DHL Global Forwarding, said the upcoming EV and Battery Logistics Centre of Excellence will support the growing EV ecosystem through inbound battery logistics, warehousing, and in-plant operations for gigafactories.
DHL also aims to support India’s expanding e-commerce market, projected to reach USD 345 billion by 2030. Balfour Manuel, Managing Director, Blue Dart, said investments will modernise infrastructure, enhance automation, and strengthen last-mile delivery capabilities across India.
Under its Strategy 2030, DHL Group is also advancing its sustainability vision. The company targets reducing absolute COâ‚‚ emissions to 29 million metric tons by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2050. In India, over 700 electric vehicles already operate within the fleet, and more than 9,000 customers have joined the GoGreen Plus programme, which uses renewable fuels and sustainable aviation fuel to lower emissions.
DHL’s digitalisation drive continues with the opening of its fifth DHL IT Services Centre and first technology training academy in Indore. With over 1,300 digital experts, India is emerging as one of DHL’s fastest-growing global technology hubs, supporting its broader mission to accelerate sustainable and digital growth worldwide.
