Challenge Group revealed the lease of two additional Boeing 777-300ERSFs from AERCAP. This year, the Group plans to launch 777-300ERSF operations by adding two units to the AOC of its Malta-based subsidiary, Challenge Airlines MT, making it the first European operator of this new freighter type.

Challenge Group operates a fleet of 10 aircraft, including 6 Boeing 747-400Fs and 4 Boeing 767-300Fs. Last year, the group expanded its network by introducing new destinations such as Delhi, Mumbai, Nairobi, Dubai, and Milan, alongside its existing routes to New York, Atlanta, Houston, Hong Kong, and Zhengzhou.

“Today marks a historic moment for Challenge Group and Malta's aviation sector. The registration of the first-ever Boeing 777-300ERSF in Europe under the 9H AOC is a testament to our relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence. These aircraft, with their unparalleled capabilities, will enable us to meet the growing demands of global trade and reinforce our position as a key enabler in the supply chain," says Yossi Shoukroun, CEO, Challenge Group.

This Boeing 777-300ERSF is leased from AerCap. However, the 'Big Twin' programme is still awaiting STC certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other regulatory agencies. The certification process has significantly delayed the aircraft's market entry, and Kalitta Air, the first customer, has yet to receive its delivery.

Challenge Group also announced that it operated over 4,000 flights, transported more than 200,000 tonnes of cargo, and obtained the CEIV Lithium Battery certification, complementing its existing Pharma and Live Animals certifications. Key shipments included 5,000 horses, 600 aircraft engines, and over 25,000 e-commerce and dangerous goods shipments.
