Textron Aviation has announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has certified a new combi interior conversion option for the passenger version of the twin-engine Cessna SkyCourier turboprop aircraft. This combi option allows operators to transport both nine passengers and cargo simultaneously. Deliveries of Cessna SkyCourier passenger units equipped with the combi option are scheduled to begin later this year.

The Cessna SkyCourier is developed and manufactured by Textron Aviation Inc., a division of Textron Inc. This twin-engine, high-wing turboprop aircraft offers a combination of performance and lower operating costs, the aircraft is also capable of being operated by a single pilot and offers a generous payload capacity, the Cessna SkyCourier is the ideal solution for air freight, passenger, and special mission needs, mentions the official release.

The Freighter variant features a large door and a flat floor cabin that is sized to handle up to three LD3 shipping containers with an impressive 6,000 pounds of payload capability, the release added.

“This newly certified combi kit adds to the growing list of options for the versatile Cessna SkyCourier,” says Lannie O’Bannion, senior vice president of Global Sales and Flight Operations. “The combi will allow operators to use the aircraft for an even broader range of missions globally and quickly change configurations to best serve their needs.”

Textron has also partnered with Reliable Robotics, a company specialising in autonomous flight technology, to develop unmanned capabilities for Cessna aircraft. Last year, Reliable achieved a remarkable milestone by piloting a fully autonomous flight of a Cessna 208B Caravan aircraft with no crew on board.
