The Cathay Group has appointed Guy Bradley, JP, as its new Chair, effective 13 May 2026, following the decision of current Chair Patrick Healy to step down from the role and retire from the Swire Group later that month.

The Group said Healy will step down as Chair of the Board on 13 May 2026 and retire from the Swire Group on 31 May 2026, marking the end of a career spanning more than three decades. The Board of Directors confirmed Bradley’s appointment on the same effective date.

Bradley, who is also Chairman of Swire Pacific and a Director of Cathay Pacific Airways, thanked Healy for his leadership during his six-year tenure as Chair. He said Healy showed strong commitment, particularly during the pandemic, and noted that under his leadership Cathay Pacific strengthened its reputation as one of the world’s leading airlines. He added that the Cathay Group has returned to pre-pandemic passenger flight capacity and expanded its network to more than 100 destinations.

Speaking about his priorities as the incoming Chair, Bradley said his focus will be on working closely with the leadership team to enhance the Cathay Group’s overall performance. He also said the Group will continue to support Hong Kong, its home city, and strengthen its position as a leading international aviation hub.

Reflecting on his time as Chair, Healy said it had been a privilege to lead the Cathay Group over the past six years, particularly during one of the most challenging periods in the Group’s 80-year history. He thanked employees for their resilience and commitment, and customers for their continued loyalty.

Healy said Cathay’s deep roots in Hong Kong, its role as part of China, and its position connecting Hong Kong to the world place the Group in a unique position. He added that Cathay is investing more than HK$100 billion to improve all aspects of its customer proposition, which he said will ensure the Group remains central to the Hong Kong international aviation hub in the decades ahead.

Bradley brings extensive international leadership experience to the role. Since joining the Swire Group in 1987, he has held senior positions across Hong Kong SAR, the Chinese Mainland, Japan, the Middle East and the United States. He will continue to serve as Chairman of Swire Pacific, John Swire & Sons (H.K.), Swire Properties and Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company.
