Cathay Cargo flies 60 showjumping horses from Europe to Hong Kong
Specialist teams handled a 12-hour Boeing 747 charter, ensuring calm and safe transport for the Longines event.

Cathay Cargo has successfully transported around 60 elite showjumping horses from Europe to Hong Kong for the Longines Hong Kong International Horse Show, which will be held at AsiaWorld-Expo from 30 January to 1 February 2026.
The horses were flown using Cathay Cargo’s Live Animal solution, which is designed to ensure safe and stress-free journeys for high-value animals. The operation marks Cathay Cargo’s return to supporting the international equestrian event, following the success of last year’s show.
Cathay Cargo’s specialist teams managed the logistics of transporting the horses on a 12-hour flight from Liège in Belgium to Hong Kong International Airport. Liège was chosen as the departure point due to its central location in Europe and its well-equipped cargo airport and stabling facilities.
The horses travelled aboard a chartered Boeing 747 freighter. The aircraft’s spacious main deck and temperature-controlled environment provided suitable conditions for long-haul transport, helping ensure the horses arrived calm and ready to compete at the event.
