Awesome Cargo begins DHL ACMI operations
The airline has commenced its first ACMI operation for DHL, connecting Cincinnati and Leipzig with an Airbus A330-200P2F as it expands its global ACMI and charter business.
Mexican cargo carrier Awesome Cargo has launched its first Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) operation for DHL, marking a new phase in its strategy to expand its presence in the global air cargo market.
The inaugural ACMI flight departed Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) in the US for Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ) in Germany, operated with an Airbus A330-200P2F freighter, XA-DUR.
The operation builds on Awesome Cargo’s experience across Asia, the Americas, Africa and Europe, where it has supported customers across global e-commerce and time-critical perishable cargo.
Earlier this year, the carrier operated ACMI capacity for Avianca Cargo during the peak flower season. Its operations have also included the transportation of Chilean cherries and salmon, Caribbean live lobsters and Colombian flowers.
Awesome Cargo said the DHL operation forms part of its plans to diversify its business and develop a stronger ACMI platform focused on long-term partnerships with airlines, integrators and logistics companies.
The carrier’s expanding portfolio now includes ACMI operations, long-term e-commerce charters and the transportation of time-critical perishables.
The launch of the DHL operation marks another milestone for the Mexican cargo airline as it seeks to strengthen its position in the international freighter and ACMI market.
