Air Transport Services Group (ATSG) has appointed Greg Mays as its new President, with responsibility for overseeing the company’s Commercial and Operations teams.

Mays is a seasoned aviation executive with a strong track record of driving growth and operational excellence. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Sun Country Airlines, where he steered the carrier through significant transformation and performance gains. Prior to that, he held senior leadership roles at Alaska Airlines, strengthening maintenance, engineering, and labour relations during a period of transformation. Mays also spent over a decade at Delta Air Lines, managing global operations in maintenance, ground handling, and cargo. He has also worked with Boston Consulting Group, advising aviation and defence clients on complex operational challenges.

“Greg is a strategic and people-focused leader who consistently elevates performance through collaboration, discipline, and vision, and we are excited to have him on board,” says Mike Berger, Chief Executive Officer of ATSG. “His operational expertise, along with his aviation acumen, positions him perfectly to propel ATSG forward with a continued focus on safety, growth, operational excellence, and profitability.”

Under Mays’ leadership, ATSG will continue to expand its global leasing platform with the A330 converted freighter and its European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)-approved A321. At the same time, Mays is committed to strengthening the company’s workforce through initiatives like AirborneTech, which provides employees with a pathway to earn their aviation maintenance technician licence in as little as twelve months. By combining growth with innovative programs, ATSG will remain well-positioned to be a global leader in aircraft leasing, flying, and support services, the release added.

“ATSG has built a strong foundation in one of the most complex industries. My focus will be on strengthening that foundation by driving operational precision, empowering teams, and expanding capabilities. I look forward to working with colleagues across all functions to chart our next chapter together,” says Mays.
