ANA achieves IATA CEIV lithium batteries certification, first in Japan
ANA's comprehensive lithium battery handling processes met IATA's stringent certification requirements.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) has made history by becoming the first Japanese carrier to receive the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators in Lithium Batteries (CEIV Lit-batt) certification.
This prestigious certification, awarded on December 24, 2024, recognises ANA's unwavering commitment to the highest safety standards and compliance for the transport of lithium batteries. The airline's rigorous quality management system, staff training, dedicated facilities, and stringent safety protocols all contributed to achieving this milestone.
The demand for safe transportation of lithium batteries is on the rise, particularly in Asian markets, where electric vehicles and other industries are driving growth. ANA's comprehensive lithium battery handling processes, including specialised equipment and safety protocols, met IATA's stringent certification requirements.
"At ANA, our top priority is safety and the reliability of our services to our valued customers," said Kenichi Wakiya, Executive Vice President, Cargo Marketing & Services of ANA and President & CEO of ANA Cargo. "Being CEIV Li-batt certified by IATA reinforces our commitment to meeting our customers' needs by providing the highest standards of safe transport."
"We congratulate ANA on achieving CEIV Li-batt certification. This certification underscores ANA's commitment to meeting the highest standards in handling and transporting lithium batteries safely and efficiently. The CEIV Li-batt programme is vital for ensuring safety and compliance across the supply chain, and we are pleased to see ANA contributing towards raising the industry benchmark," said Nick Careen, IATA SVP Operations Safety and Security.
ANA has also earned IATA's CEIV Pharma and CEIV Fresh certifications for its pharmaceutical and perishable transport, demonstrating its dedication to expanding its services and enhancing quality across all operations.
The CEIV Li-batt certification is a testament to ANA's commitment to safety and compliance and its position as a leader in the aviation industry. As the demand for lithium battery transportation continues to grow, ANA is well-equipped to meet the needs of its customers while maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability.
