Air Astana extends ULD management partnership with Jettainer
The longstanding partnership that began in 2007 has been renewed again on a long-term basis.

Air Astana has renewed its long-term partnership with Jettainer for Unit Load Device (ULD) management. The agreement, initially established in 2007, will continue as the Kazakh airline modernises its fleet. Jettainer will provide customised solutions to support Air Astana’s transition, which includes the introduction of Boeing 787 aircraft. The airline, headquartered in Almaty, plans to expand its fleet from 60 to 80 aircraft by 2028, increasing its ULD requirements.
Air Astana’s fleet expansion will require a scalable and diverse ULD management strategy. Jettainer will assist in optimising ULD availability, tracking, and maintenance, ensuring operational efficiency as the airline integrates new aircraft. This partnership enables Air Astana to focus on its core operations while leveraging Jettainer’s expertise in ULD logistics.
Berik Abdrakhmanov, Director of Ground Services at Air Astana, stated that the airline values its longstanding collaboration with Jettainer and expects the partnership to support its growth plans with tailored ULD solutions.
Dr Jan-Wilhelm Breithaupt, CEO of Jettainer, emphasised that the contract extension reflects Air Astana’s confidence in Jettainer’s ability to provide reliable and flexible ULD management, particularly as the airline prepares for its fleet expansion.
Jettainer, a subsidiary of Lufthansa Cargo, manages over 110,000 ULDs across 500 locations worldwide. Its data-driven approach integrates AI and big data analytics to optimise ULD positioning, maintenance, and repair, ensuring seamless logistics for airline partners.
