Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) has been selected by CMA CGM Air Cargo, the full freighter air company of CMA CGM Group, to provide engine and component support for the two Boeing 777 freighters recently added to its all-cargo fleet.

"The two new aircraft were delivered to the transporter on May 31 and 7 June 7, 2022 respectively, and will be used to fly international routes out of CMA CGM Air Cargo’s base at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport. As a recognised specialist in A330 maintenance, AFI KLM E&M will also maintain the components of CMA CGM Air Cargo's A330F fleet," says an official release.

Capitalising on its airline-MRO experience in maintaining one of the world’s largest 777 fleet on behalf of its parent companies Air France and KLM, AFI KLM E&M will provide comprehensive component support for both aircraft as part of a long-term flight-hour contract that includes repairs and access to its spare parts pool set up at CDG, the release added.

"For engine services, AFI KLM E&M will be responsible for repairs and on-wing services in the event of issues encountered during stopovers as well as aerostructure and APU support. The two 777 freighters will also benefit from careful monitoring and analysis, made possible by the exclusive predictive maintenance solutions developed by AFI KLM E&M Prognos for engine and APU."

AFI KLM E&M will also provide component support for CMA CGM Air Cargo’s four Airbus A330F including access to its dedicated pool. "Building on over 30 years’ experience, AFI KLM E&M is one of the most expert MRO on the A330 family, supporting more than 20 customers and 200 hundred aircraft of this type."

Géry Mortreux, Executive Vice President, Air France Industries says: “we’re highly honoured to have been selected by CMA CGM to provide engine and component, and will focus our efforts on ensuring its aircraft are maintained to the highest operational standards. Moreover, we’re proud that our MRO services will be contributing to the development of our partner’s air freight activities, as part of a wider and highly promising alliance between two European groups – both of which are market leaders in global transport and logistics.”

AFI KLM E&M supports almost 3,000 aircraft operated by 200 major international and domestic airlines, the release added.
