Yusen Logistics’ Surabaya branch in Indonesia achieves GDP pharma certification

April 26, 2018: Yusen Logistics’ Surabaya Branch in Indonesia becomes the first logistics provider near Surabaya to obtain GDP certification for transportation of pharmaceuticals.

The logistics solutions provider has obtained GDP certification for FCL ocean freight forwarding from and to Tanjung Perak Port and for air freight forwarding from and to Juanda International Airport in March.

In Indonesia, demand for pharmaceutical products is increasing due to the popularisation of the new universal health coverage that began in 2014. Japanese and foreign pharmaceutical manufacturers are entering Indonesia, and the value of imports and exports of pharmaceutical products is also increasing.

Its Jakarta Branch achieved GDP certification in August 2016.

“The scope of the certification is for FCL ocean freight forwarding from and to Tanjun Perak Port and for air freight forwarding from and to Juanda International Airport. For FCL ocean freight forwarding, we arrange customs clearance with the GDP guidelines and manage the status of transportation and delivery using the GPS tracking system. For air export freight forwarding, we arrange from picking up to delivery of cargo to airline including packing and customs clearance,” informed the company through a statement.

And for air import freight forwarding, the company uses a temperature-mapped vehicle for delivery after customs clearance. It ensures that the temperature controlled commodity is managed and monitored well.
