Viracopos Airport welcomes cars for F1 GP Heineken do Brasil 2017
November 1, 2017: The cars and equipment for the F1 GP Heineken do Brasil 2017 have landed at the International Airport of Viracopos, in Campinas (SP), the official airport of the event. In all, more than 600 tonnes will be carried by seven Boeing 747-400 and 747-800 aircraft.
The F1 cars and the equipment are transported in trains of carts for Interlagos. The entire operation involves at least 50 people from various areas of the airport, from public agencies and contractors for transportation and logistics. Approximately 80 trucks are planned to transport all the material to São Paulo.
The International Airport of Viracopos completes this year the 16th consecutive operation of landing and loading of the entire cargo of the F1 GP Brazil. This time will be four days of arrival of equipment at the airport: 31/10, 01/11, 02/11 and 03/11.
"It is an honor to receive the Formula One GP Brazil once again and our goal is to continue to carry out this operation at the Viracopos Cargo Terminal, which is one of the safest, most agile and efficient in Latin America," said the CEO of the Concessionária Aeroportos Brasil Viracopos, Gustavo Müssnich.
"The terminal's infrastructure and the special operation set up by the airport are essential for the operational efficiency that the F1 GP Brazil needs," said Viracopos Operations Director Marcelo Mota.
The Cargo Terminal (TECA) of Viracopos is one of the most important and busiest in Brazil and is the largest cargo import in the country. Besides having a wide and modern structure for handling, storage and release of cargo, it is responsible for handling almost 40% of all air cargo imported from the country.
Viracopos was chosen this year as the 2nd best cargo airport in the world at the Air Cargo Excellence Awards 2017 in the category up to 400 tons / year. The award is held by Air Cargo World, one of the industry's leading publications, and celebrates the best performances in the area of ??air transport.
The assessment is based on the Air Cargo Excellence survey, which was created in 2005 and is published annually in Air Cargo World. Airports and airlines around the world are recognized according to their scores on various performance factors.
Last year, Viracopos already had the title of best airport of load of Latin America. "Our main objective is to optimize airport performance for customers, both for the passenger terminal and for the cargo terminal," the airport president said.
Also this year, Viracopos was elected for the fifth time the best air terminal in the country in the passenger satisfaction survey conducted by the Civil Aviation Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (SAC / PR). The research was carried out in the 15 main airports of Brazil in the months of January, February and March of 2017.
