Feb 15, 2017: Brazil’s Viracopos International Airport has seen recovery in cargo volumes and number of passengers in January 2017. Exports and Imports grew 55.93 percent and 33.47 percent, respectively, when compared to the same period last year.

The number of passengers grew 0.056 percent, reversing the sequence of falls that were repeated 12 months ago.

Exports remain the highlight, as 4,412 tonnes were transported compared to 2,829 tonnes in January 2015, which is the largest volume for the month since 2013 (5,140 tonnes). Imports grew from 7,011 tonnes to 9,358 tonnes.

"The market relies on the cargo capacity of Viracopos and we constantly invest in technology, safety and relationship. The airport consolidates more and more as the best Terminal of Loads of Latin America and this is reflected in the numbers. We believe in a recovery scenario in 2017," says Gustavo Müssnich, CEO of Viracopos.
