July 12, 2017: Austrian Airlines and Vienna airport have renewed the contract for ground handling services. The agreement covers the aircraft handling on the apron, handling passenger movements, the loading and unloading of luggage and catering, cabin cleaning and aircraft towing procedures.

With this contract extension, Vienna Airport and Austrian Airlines hopes to provide on time flight operations and reliability of baggage handling.

"An efficient ground handling at the airport ensures punctuality and reliability at the Vienna location. The more gratifying fact is that we were able to achieve an ambitious and forward-looking agreement with the Lufthansa Group and Austrian Airlines as our primary customer, with the high quality and focus on growth for the airline," says Mag. Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.

"An airline is only as powerful as its airport. That is why I am pleased not only about the good cooperation of the completing of around 370 daily flights with 33,000 passengers but also the fact that we have found a suitable commercial framework for our system partnership," said Heinz Lachinger, CFO of Austrian Airlines.

According to the annual Punctuality Statistics of International Aviation Institute OAG (Official Airline Guide), Vienna International Airport is among the top 20 airports and Austrian Airlines is one of the most punctual airlines in the world.
