UPS has taken delivery of its latest Boeing 747-8F aircraft – one of the 14 freighter jets ordered by the company in 2018. UPS is the largest 747-8F customer for Boeing, with 28 orders in total. The -8 has a cargo capacity of 140 tonnes, or approximately 30,000 packages and a range of 4,200 nautical miles.

The aircraft with registration N622UP is UPS’s 17th 747-8F, with three more deliveries expected this year to help with peak season.

UPS typically deploys 747-8Fs on high-traffic trunk routes to Asian cities, connecting in Anchorage to UPS' primary hub in Louisville and to other hubs in Philadelphia; Rockford, Illinois; and Ontario, California. UPS’s global airline network includes more than 500 owned and leased aircraft.

Recently, Boeing had announced its plans to close its B747 production line in about two years’ time once all outstanding orders are completed.
