U-Freight lauds TAPA’S supply chain security efforts

February 12, 2018: In order to mitigate the risk of rampant cargo thefts and attacks on vehicles in Europe, Middle East and Africa, the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) has recently evolved a robust supply chain security mechanism for all its members.

Simon Wong, CEO of U-Freight Group has lauded TAPA’s efforts to foster a robust network of TAPA-certified parking sites for its members.

The move comes at a time when there has been a rise in cargo thefts at several unsecured locations in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, which accounted 173 or 85.1 percent of incidents in November 2017.

According to the TAPA’s Incident Information Service (IIS), attacks on vehicles in unsecured parking locations poses a greatest risk to high-value cargo, as well as to drivers and transport vehicles.

Wong said: “U-Freight is a long-standing supporter and a member of TAPA. Several of our logistics hubs in Asia have obtained the TAPA security accreditation, including those in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore.”

The TAPA accreditation scheme will help in maintaining a secure environment, thereby preserving the integrity of each of our freight facilities across the globe, and protect our customers’ assets at every stage of the transportation process,” said Wong.
