APR 1, 2015: TAM Airlines celebrates its first anniversary since it joined oneworld. TAM’s membership to oneworld consolidated the LATAM Airlines Group’s presence in the alliance, offering special benefits to members of TAM Fidelidade frequent flyer program worldwide.

During its first year as oneworld member, TAM was able to connect its passengers to over 1,000 destinations covering all continents, while also offering access to over 600 VIP lounges in airports around the globe.

“As a oneworld member, we are able to offer more destinations and convenience to our passengers by connecting with our alliance partners in key business centres such as New York, Miami, London, Madrid and Sydney, while ensuring they find the same benefits and service excellence throughout their journey” said Claudia Sender, CEO of TAM S.A. and TAM Airlines.

oneworld CEO Bruce Ashby added: “oneworld aims to be the first choice global airline alliance for frequent international travellers, so we have been very pleased to have Latin America’s leading airline as part of our team – and to bring oneworld’s unmatched range of services and benefits to customers in Brazil.”

Members of the oneworld alliance include 15 of the world’s most important airlines, making it the main airline alliance in South America and the leading alliance in the United States. LAN Airlines has been a member of oneworld since 2000. LAN Argentina, LAN Colombia, LAN Ecuador and LAN Peru, have also joined the alliance.

To make it even easier for customers to reach more places, TAM has expanded code-sharing with a number of oneworld partner airlines, including American Airlines, Iberia and Japan Airlines, since joining the alliance.
