Aug 01, 2018: Sitarail, a Bollore Transport & Logistics subsidiary, has signed an agreement with the Ivorian Refining Company (SIR) and the Burkinabe National Hydrocarbons Company (SONABHY) to develop the supply and transport of petroleum products.

The general managers of SITARAIL, Quentin Gerard, the Ivorian Refining Company (SIR), Thomas Camara and the Burkinabe National Hydrocarbons Company (SONABHY), Hilaire Kabore, signed an agreement recently on July 19.

This agreement reflects the will of the States of Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso to intensify their economic relations and aim to increase and secure the traffic of petroleum products by rail to the SONABHY depots in Bobo Dioulasso and Ouagadougou, while optimising transport costs.

At the end of this agreement, the SIR will supply SONABHY with a minimum of 400,000 tonnes a year in petroleum products; SONABHY will entrust Sitarail with the transportation of at least 400,000 tonnes of petroleum products per year from GESTOCI in Abidjan.

Finally, Sitarail will invest several billion CFA francs for the provision of railway equipment to carry out this traffic.
