June 26, 2018: Singapore Changi Airport saw airfreight traffic grew by 1.8 percent year-on-year in the month of May. The Singapore hub has handled 180,490 tonnes of cargo compared to the same period last year.

On the other hand, the airport has handled 5.29 million passenger movements in May 2018, a 5.8 percent year-on-year increase.

In May, traffic between Singapore and Europe saw a robust double-digit growth of 17 percent on the back of additional capacity introduced recently to Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom. Among Changi’s top 10 markets, China led the gainers with a 12 percent increase in passenger traffic, with more than 550,000 movements between Singapore and China.

Traffic to and from Australia, India, Japan and Vietnam also registered good growth of at least 8 percent. Among Changi’s top 10 city routes, Sydney recorded the strongest growth at 15 percent, followed by Denpasar (+10 percent) and Ho Chi Minh City (+8 percent).
