February 6, 2018: SEKO Logistics recently roped in Shawn Richard as vice president global airfreight.

Richard’s appointment comes at a time when there has been an increase in demand for SEKO’s final mile and traditional international and domestic airfreight services.

Currently, its cross-border e-commerce accounts 50 percent of its airfreight volumes.

According to the company, Richard will be reporting to Terry Unrein, SEKO’s chief commercial officer, Americas.

He will be responsible to strategically drive international air procurement, and maximise its air carrier utilisation, globally.

Shawn has over 30 years of expertise in the logistics industry, with extensive knowledge in carrier management, procurement and cross-border e-commerce.

He began his career managing inbound and outbound handling operations for air carriers at the JFK, New York before joining DHL Global Forwarding in Miami, where he played an important role in effectively integrating Danzas, Exel and Airborne Express into the company.

Subsequently, he joined Geodis. Prior to SEKO, Richard was employed with Worldnet Shipping USA as COO, and Delta Airlines Cargo as northeast regional sales manager.

Unrein said, “Our roots are in the airfreight business, and have instilled growth in our cross-border e-commerce business, which further encouraged us to introduce home delivery products, like Airfreight+ Final Mile service in North America. Our traditional omni-channel and white glove business have increased our domestic and international heavyweight airfreight volumes.” expectations.”
