Oct 4, 2019: This week, Scoot successfully completed final flight trials ahead of its scheduled move to Singapore Changi Airport’s Terminal 1 (T1) on 22 October 2019. The move will facilitate Scoot’s projected double-digit annual growth for the next three years.

The airline commenced various operational and systems trials since August 2019 to ensure that the essentials were in place and running smoothly. These culminated in two flight trials on 17 September 2019 and 2 October 2019, respectively. TR288 Singapore-Bali operated with an Airbus 320 and TR280 Singapore-Bali operated with a Boeing 787. A total of 522 customers, including 5 infants, were involved in the flight trials, and over 250 pieces of baggage, weighing over 3,660 kilograms, were processed.

Customers booked on the trial flights were notified to check in at Scoot’s Changi Airport Counters at T1, instead of at T2.

Ng Chee Keong, Scoot’s chief operations officer, said, “For almost two years, we have worked hard towards a seamless move of our operations to T1. Passengers for both trial flights were checked in and boarded on time; in addition, baggage and other flight handling essentials, such as catering and amenities, were uplifted with no issues. Our customers on these trial flights have also shared that the automated check-in kiosks and bag-drop machines at the new central zone are user-friendly. We will continue to work closely with Changi Airport Group and our service partners to ensure a smooth transition, with extra staff presence planned at both T2 and T1. With that, we are looking forward to welcoming over 10,000 customers at our new home on 22 October 2019.”

Since July, Scoot has been updating customers of the move on its website and social media channels, via email and on the Scoot mobile app. At the airport, informational standees have been placed at the T1 and T2 departure and arrival levels. On-board announcements for flights into Singapore have also been updated since 1 October 2019, to inform customers of the move happening on 22 October 2019.

The last Scoot flight from T2 will be TR156 from Singapore to Shenyang, departing 2.55am local time on 22 October 2019. The first Scoot flight from T1 will be TR100 from Singapore to Guangzhou, departing 5.15am local time on 22 October 2019. The last Scoot flight arriving into T2 will be TR431 from Kuching to Singapore on 21 October 2019, with scheduled arrival at 11.55pm local time. The first Scoot flight arriving into T1 is TR895 from Kaohsiung to Singapore on 22 October 2019, with scheduled arrival at 00.05am local time.
