Jan 21, 2019: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has handled 1.7 million tonnes of cargo volume last year. This represents a decrease of 3 percent year-on-year.

In the past year, 71 million passengers travelled from, to or through Schiphol, representing an increase of 3.7 percent relative to 2017. Schiphol's network included 326 destinations in 2018, the same as in 2017.

The December figures reflect increase in passenger volume whereas decline in cargo volume. 5.3 million passengers travelled from, to or via this European hub in December this year, representing an increase of 5.7 percent compared to December 2017.  A statement from the airport said: "This increase partly stems from the turbulent weather during the same period last year, which led to cancellations."

The overall volume of cargo transported decreased by 3.4 percent in December compared with the same period last year.
