Aug 23, 2018: Logistics services provider the RhenusGroup has opened its new subsidiary in New Zealand – Rhenus Logistics NZ. The first business site commences operation in Auckland on August 20, 2018.

Rhenus Logistics NZ will provide comprehensive international and domestic logistic solutions as well as customs consultancy with a strong focus on the customer experience offering both 4PL & 5PL solutions. The Rhenus Group is aiming to expand its services in Oceania through its first branch in New Zealand.

“Despite New Zealand’s geographical distance between supply point and customer markets and the challenges this creates from an international logistics perspective, New Zealand remains a leading supplier for both the global dairy and agriculture industries. New Zealand commodities within these industries are seen as premium products, along with its clean, green image,” says Mark Harrison, managing director of Rhenus Logistics NZ, who brings 25 years of experience in the NZ transport industry.

The focus will be on the imports from both the Asian and European markets, given the high demand for products into New Zealand from these origins. The Trans-Tasman market between Australia and New Zealand will also be a key market.

“We’ve been investing in the expansion of our network in the Asia-Pacific region for several years. We took over the Australian company O’Brien Logistics about one year ago and integrated it within the Rhenus Group. We’ve also opened many new business sites, for example in South Korea, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and in the Philippines,” adds Jan Harnisch, CEO Far East Asia.
