New Delhi, 5th January, 2015(STAT):-Ravindra Kumar Srivastava has taken over charge as the new Chairman of Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Prior to this, Mr.Srivastava was Principal Secretary to the Govt of Jharkhand in the Deptt. of Planning & Development and Energy after reverting from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.

After taking over charge, Mr. Srivastava took a review meeting with the Board Members. He advocated proactive measures in increasing the share of AAI in the cargo market from the present level of 2%. He laid emphasis on developing infrastructure by modernization of immovable assets and lands. He said, “there is an ample scope of leveraging the funds, capacity & managerial experience of the private sector and technology from the market for future expansion program of AAI and to live with the expectation of the Government. The expansion of the work and the people’s appreciation for the good work done by our colleagues at different airports will generate a real ‘feel good factor’. We must work towards strengthening the capacity development program of each sector and collaborate with the best Management and Technical Institutes for enriching the contents and capacity of our different Training Institutes for the skill development of our employees.”

In his address, he also touched upon the measures to be taken for expenditure control, bringing discipline, introduction of technology driven system particularly in the security apparatus. He highlighted the importance of wearing the uniform at work place and display the name badge. It should be enforced with immediate effect. At the end, he encouraged participative management within the organization as well as by involving all the stakeholders at various levels and complimented the Members for good work done by them so far”.

Mr. Srivastava, always a Gold Medalist in academics, has a Master’s Degree in Physics from Benares Hindu University, an M. Phil. in Physics from Delhi University and also holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi.

Mr. Srivastava’s erudition and administrative acumen, multilateral experience and multi-faceted training will be the wind beneath the wings of AAI for scaling new heights at this critical juncture as it takes on major infrastructural expansion projects, makes the operational environment and Air Navigation Services even more safe and secure and goes full throttle in its commitment to provide safe, comfortable, neat & clean airports that will take the country’s image to the next level.
