PACTL sets new freight volume record in 2015

Jan 12, 2016: PACTL’s overall import cargo volumes increased by 8.98 percent compared to the previous year and rose to a total figure of 651,657 tonnes of air cargo. International imports soared by 9.39 percent to 602,004 tonnes and domestic imports increased by 4.26 percent to 49,653 tonnes.

The export cargo volumes grew by 4.81 percent to a figure of 947,654 tonnes in total. International exports showed a growth rate of 4.42 percent to 892,223 tonnes and domestic exports rose by 11.51 percent to 55,431 tonnes.

“Despite difficult market conditions, we were able to develop our business fully in line with our expectations. This is evident, for example, in the ongoing growth in international imports, which was caused by the rising demand for imported consumer goods such as perishables, pharmaceuticals and other high-value articles,” says Lutz Grzegorz, vice president, PACTL.

As a result of these positive developments, PACTL was able to further increase its market share in 2015. The company processed 49.4 percent of the air cargo handled at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) in 2015, an increase of 1.4 percent in comparison with 2014.

PACTL is in the final steps of testing its new end-to-end cool chain facility. Trial operations started in November 2015.
