May 6, 2015:- Munich Airport achieved significant growth in cargo with a 5.8 percent growth on the previous year. This trend of growth continued in the first quarter of 2015 also with an above average growth of 6.2 percent in total freight.

Following on the success in the freight segment, Munich Airport is presenting itself as a cargo gateway in the current Air Cargo Europe

With 352 square meters of exhibition space – the largest stand at the fair (Hall B1, Stand 201/302) – Munich Airport and its cooperating partners United Cargo, Air Canada Cargo, Oman Air Cargo, Yangtze River Express, a. hartrodt and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics will offer information on their freight services and facilities.

To ensure that it is positioned to keep pace with the steadily rising demand in the future, Munich Airport is continuously expanding its freight infrastructure and the available services. Since March 31, the Chinese cargo airline Yangtze River Express has operated five weekly flights connecting the Munich hub to the Chinese cities of Tianjin and Shanghai. AirBridgeCargo already offers two weekly connections to seven Asian destinations via Moscow, and will add Hanoi as a new destination with the start of this year’s summer timetable. Mahan Air also launched a new service in March with three weekly departures from Munich to Tehran. Kuwait Airlines will be flying from Munich to Kuwait City starting in July. The new joint venture between Lufthansa Cargo and ANA Cargo will also offer time and cost savings to cargo customers in Munich.
