Moscow, September 9, 2014 (STAT): Moscow Domodedovo Airport demonstrates the highest rate of passenger traffic growth according to the report of the Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe). The largest Russian air hub dominates among the biggest airports in Europe – its passenger traffic in July 2014 increased by 13.7 percent yoy and totalled more than 3.8 million people.

Following the first 7 months of 2014, passenger traffic of Moscow Domodedovo Airport increased by 8.2 percent yoy and amounted to 18.7 million people.

Moscow Domodedovo Airport became the first Russian airport to join the category of the largest hubs in Europe with annual passenger traffic exceeding 25 million people. This group also includes London Heathrow Airport, Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, and others.

Currently, Moscow Domodedovo Airport is proactive in implementing a number of major projects, such as building the second segment of the passenger terminal, which will increase the capacity of the airport complex. Another large-scale project is reconstruction of the runway (Runway 2) at Moscow Domodedovo Airport as a part of the Federal Targeted Investment Program. It will allow to minimize the runway occupancy time, and to reduce the level of impact of weather conditions during the flights. All construction projects implemented at Moscow Domodedovo Airport are aimed at improvement of service quality provided to passengers and guests, together with creating the most comfortable conditions for visitors of the air hub.
