LuxairCARGO’s freight volumes see 8 percent y/y growth in 2016

Jan 24, 2017: LuxairCARGO has handled a total of 820,000 tonnes of air freight handled in 2016, that represents an increase of 8 percent growth last year compared to 2015.

It is reporting its best performance since 2007, which was a record year, as volumes handled reached 896,000 tonnes.

December 2016’s operational results even mark a historical turning point, as LuxairCARGO handled almost 83,000 tonnes in December alone.

Moreover, LuxairCARGO’s GDP certification (Good Distribution Practices) for its logistics platform as a whole, which was obtained in 2013, has just been extended for another 3 years. This certification covers all the recommendations and official guidelines relating to the transportation and distribution of pharmaceutical products for human use. It is a guarantee of quality for all actors in the logistics chain and the end customer, in particular for operations carried out at the Pharma & Healthcare Hub.

LuxairCARGO performances have significantly progressed in this particularly regulated domain and this has had a positive impact on LuxairCARGO’s operational growth.

Temperature-sensitive freight volumes handled have indeed increased from 24,400 tonnes to 30,000 tonnes between 2014 and 2016.
