Lufthansa invests into Fleet Logistics to boost air cargo booking efficiency
January 24, 2018: Intensifying its ties to the global startup scene, Lufthansa Cargo recently made significant investment Portland-based tech startup, Fleet Logistics.
According to reports, the strong collaboration between Lufthansa Cargo and Fleet Logistics is expected to link extensive airfreight experience with a technology-driven, fresh view on global logistics processes.
Founded in 2014, Fleet Logistics is an online marketplace, matching customers' demand for freight services with free capacity provided by various logistics companies. It addresses customers' inherent desire for convenience in complex cross-border freight shipping processes.
'Fleet Logistics is a perfect match for us as it combines innovative and visionary thinking with a strong intrinsic motivation to improve air cargo booking and shipping efficiency, and our customers' overall experience,' said Peter Gerber, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo.

Fleet Logistics is also planning to expand its board of directors with the new seat held by Lufthansa Cargo's CCO Alexis von Hoensbroech.
Recently, a large number of startups have been pushed into the logistics industry upgrading connectivity between various players of global air cargo supply chains. Consequently, traditional logistics companies have now become aware of opportunities they can capitalise by investing into new digital business models.
By acquiring shares in Fleet Logistics, Lufthansa Cargo has underlined its strategic commitment in lifting the airfreight industry to a superior digital maturity level.
The acquisition is part of the Lufthansa Group's overall digitisation strategy, which was strongly supported by the Lufthansa Innovation Hub located in Berlin.
