DEC 17, 2015: LATAM Airlines Group hosted a ceremony at Miami International Airport on December 16 to celebrate the grand opening of its first maintenance hangar outside of South America. Community and business leaders joined airline and airport officials for the inauguration of the new 98,242-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, which will service the airline’s passenger and cargo fleet at MIA.

LATAM had originally planned to build the facility in South America, but Miami-Dade County and State of Florida officials successfully convinced the airline to instead construct it at MIA – resulting in an investment of $15 million at the airport. An average of 145 passenger and cargo flights from LATAM Airlines Group and its affiliates take off from MIA each week.
