Oct 30, 2019: LATAM Airlines Brazil will commence new weekly service to Mount Pleasant Airport on Falkland Islands from São Paulo in November.

A Boeing 767 aircraft on the route will provide capacity for more than 190 passengers.

In addition, it will also increase the freight transport offer more than seven times.

Initially, the company plans to transport perishable products to and from the South Atlantic island, with a monthly stop in Cordoba, Argentina.

LATAM Airlines Brazil was chosen to operate the service in December 2018 following a tender process agreed between the United Kingdom and Argentinean governments to introduce a new international air link to Mount Pleasant.

By adding this new frequency from its São Paulo/Guarulhos hub, LATAM strengthens its Guarulhos hub, from where serves over 33 destinations throughout South America as well as 14 cities in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

The new flight is scheduled to connect conveniently via São Paulo with flights to/from cities including Miami, London and Madrid.

Since 1999, LATAM Airlines Group has operated a weekly flight between Punta Arenas (Chile) and Mount Pleasant, with monthly stop in Río Gallegos (Argentina) as part of a decree signed by the governments of Argentina and the United Kingdom.
