Gautemela, October 13, 2014 (STAT):-Konecranes has received an order for five Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes from Terminal de Contenedores Quetzal S.A. (TCQ) in Guatemala, owned by the Spanish container terminal operator Grup TCB. This will be Konecranes’ sixth delivery to a Grup TCB terminal and the first to Guatemala. The cranes will be delivered in the fall of 2015.

“We are excited about this first order to TCQ and Guatemala. These Konecranes RTGs will offer top productivity and reliability as soon as this new facility goes online,” says Kim Salvén, Sales Director, Europe. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the order.

The 16-wheel RTGs have a lifting capacity of 40 tons and can stack one-over-five containers high, and seven plus truck lane wide. They will be equipped with Konecranes’ Active Load Control technology for premium container handling performance. They will be diesel-powered and equipped with advanced Konecranes’ Fuel Saver technology.

“Grup TCB has been working with Konecranes for a number of years, and appreciates the high performance and reliability of Konecranes RTGs. This track record was an important factor in this purchase decision,” says Mr. Juan José Suarez, TCQ General Manager.

Konecranes’ TRUCONNECT® Remote Diagnostics and Technical Support will be included. This innovative service offers the customer information on the cranes’ real usage and enables the customer to optimize the timing of maintenance to reduce crane downtime.
