MAY 14, 2015: IAG Cargo is boosting its German cargo capacity by 18 percent. The new capacity provides a major boost to IAG Cargo’s pioneering EuroConnector service and delivers customers with a greater array of options for shipping goods into, around and out of Europe.
The new capacity will be introduced from Düsseldorf, Hannover, Stuttgart, Berlin Tegel, Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg into Barcelona and will be carried on Vueling’s narrow-body aircraft.
This increase to IAG Cargo’s network in Germany means customers will benefit from 47 additional direct flights from Barcelona into key European cities. In addition, this capacity will be used to connect to Madrid and from there to Latin American destinations, providing an important trade route for businesses wishing to connect to these high-growth markets.
The new cargo flights will be operational by the end of May with the exception of Munich and Frankfurt, which will start later in the year.
Chris Nielen, Regional Commercial Manager Europe at IAG Cargo commented, “This significant enhancement to our short-haul capacity out of Germany will provide customers with new options for intra-European trade and by connecting through our Madrid and London hubs, for international trade.
“Our industry-leading approach to capacity management has underpinned the services we have launched over the past couple of years – including the launch of EuroConnector. As a result, we are able to offer global businesses the flexibility they need across our European networks and services.”
