NOV 25, 2015: Gulf Air announced the successful roll out of its new generation iPad Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs), utilizing Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro as its EFB solution, to all the airline’s pilots in a move that provides them with fully digitized, real-time access to all operational information inflight, enhancing efficiency while reducing paper usage and delivering cost savings. Jeppesen, a part of Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, is providing digital navigation and flight information for Gulf Air, delivered through iPads.

Captain Nasser Al Salmi, Gulf air chief operating officer commented on the airline’s successful transition to EFBs, “This is a significant achievement and one that will deliver operational benefits, positive environmental impact and cost savings. Equipping Gulf Air’s flying crew with iPad Electronic Flight Bags on-board gives them a paperless way to manage in-flight data further streamlining our operational performance and giving our team greater capabilities and efficiencies. The EFBs help us bring the latest technologies to the cockpit, centralizing information and enhancing our operations.”

“We are proud to support the transition of Gulf Air’s operations to a fully accutane buy online digital working environment, through use of Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro on iPad as their EFB solution,” said Alex Zakroff, vice president, Jeppesen Navigation Solutions. “Digital navigation solutions provide a wealth of information available at the tap of a finger, which helps to increase situational awareness and reduces costs to help airlines operate more efficiently in a competitive business landscape.”

Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro helps to reduce pilot workload and preparation time and provides streamlined access to essential operational and flight information, including Jeppesen’s industry-leading navigation data. Vector-based terminal charts and data-driven enroute content are dynamically rendered on-screen and information is displayed per pilot and operator preference.

Gulf Air commenced its EFB roll out in August 2014 in a move to integrate flight-critical communications towards increasing operational efficiency and eliminating paper-based flight materials. Going forward, Gulf Air also plans to finalize the roll out of iPads to its cabin service managers by the end of 2015, equipping them to manage and cater to passenger preferences more efficiently while inflight – further elevating the customer service experience on-board.
