September 19, 2017: FM Logistic has set up base in Vietnam to support its historical customer, Auchan Retail. This new set up confirms its established strategy of long-term investment in emerging countries, following China in 2004, in 2013 in Brazil and India in 2016.

In order to support its customer’s ambitious development plan in Vietnam, FM Logistic has launched a 5 000 m² tri-temperature logistics site in B?c Ninh - 20 km from Hanoi. This site will supply all Auchan stores in the northern half of the country (hypermarkets, supermarkets, convenience stores).

In parallel, the local team is preparing the setup of a new site in Ho Chi Minh City planned in 2018.

“Setting up a modern logistics system will allow us to have products more readily available in our stores and guarantee a high-quality cold chain” states Christian Autié, Efficiency director of Auchan Retail in Vietnam.

“In line with group strategy, our objective is to become one of the leading logistics providers on the Vietnamese market by 2020 and to develop collaborative solutions, creating added-value for our customers” explains Stéphane Descarpentries, director of Operations in Asia for FM Logistic.

Vietnam has over 90 million inhabitants and one of the strongest economic growth rates in South-East Asia. Urbanisation, the development of retail and e-commerce will accelerate the professionalisation of logistics.

Following its strategy of accompanying the market shifts and leveraging future growth, it was key to FM Logistic to enter the market and set the foundations of the “FM Model” ahead of time: ““class A” multi-client distribution centres pooling infrastructure and resources to bring flexible and secure solutions to the Vietnamese market.

This first FM-standard structure is planned for 2019 in Hanoi with up to 50 000m² of warehousing space.
